Dan Grzybek was elected to Allegheny County Council in November 2023 to represent District 5, which includes Bethel Park, Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, and Upper St. Clair.

Councilman Grzybek is a lifelong resident of Allegheny County: having grown up in Hampton Township before attending college at the University of Pittsburgh where he majored in Chemical Engineering. Shortly after graduating from Pitt, Councilman Grzybek moved to Bethel Park, where he lives with his wife and two rescue dogs. In addition to his Bachelor’s Degree, Councilman Grzybek has his Master’s Degree in Engineering from Purdue University. He currently works as an Engineer on Nuclear Reactor Safety Systems for the Nimitz class of US Navy Aircraft Carriers.

Prior to serving on Allegheny County Council, Councilman Grzybek served on Bethel Park's School Board from 2021 through 2023. He has also volunteered as a Youth Mentor at the South Hills Interfaith Movement, is a judge for PA Junior Academy of Science competitions, teaches students how to build underwater remotely operated vehicles through the Navy's Seaperch program, and filled in as an Emergency Substitute Teacher during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last but not least, he is a Bethel Park Volunteer Firefighter.

Councilman Grzybek believes that every resident of Allegheny County deserves clean air and water, the ability to obtain a good, sustainable career, to have their basic needs met, and to be treated with the dignity and humanity they deserve.
