Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma or its equivalent AND two (2) years of experience in payroll processing or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Experience with JD Edwards or similar HR/Payroll system is a plus.

Additionally, it is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates for positions within the executive branch must provide proof of a Covid-19 vaccination. The prospective employee will need to be fully vaccinated or have at least one shot of a two-shot series before beginning work. Any employee who does not receive and provide proof of the second shot within 30 days will have their probationary employment terminated. Under the supervision of the Manager of Employment & Compensation, the Payroll Technician’s primary functions are to process time records for the preparation of paychecks to all employees and the processing of various personnel actions. Duties include uploading and auditing of time records, production of payroll vouchers, entering of personnel transactions, implementation of union contractual salary increases, and assisting department payroll representatives in resolution of payroll processing problems and /or issues.
