Salary:
$60,000 - $70,000 per year commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Sustainability, Education, or a closely related degree AND three (3) years of work experience in climate action, community engagement, environmental justice, environmental policies, or similar.
- Experience in community or organizational engagement and education preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Outreach and Education Coordinator focuses on the implementation of the Climate Action Plan (CAP) through collaboration and community partnerships. The incumbent will foster continued engagement with stakeholder groups and community partners as the county moves from planning into implementation, development, and implementation of CAP monitoring protocols, collaborative fundraising, and development of outreach materials. In addition to maintaining external partnerships and engagement, the Outreach and Education Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting internal engagement, including the county’s internal Green Team, through regular communication and the organization of educational and engagement opportunities.

Duties:
- Creates and develops strategic communications for key stakeholders such as the public, municipalities, and businesses via the county website, public dashboards, and other communication tools.
- Liaises with community partners and external stakeholders regarding strategies and actions as part of implementing the county Climate Action Plan, including leading, convening, and representing the Department at community convenings.
- Develops, tracks, and monitors measures of success for the Climate Action Plan.
- Secures grants and other assistance from foundations, government agencies, and other organizations.
- Coordinates with other department staff to support the county’s internal Green Team as well as county-wide employee engagement.
- Develops and maintains a public outreach and marketing program to support the work of the department.
- Plans engagement and educational activities and events for internal and external partners relevant to department initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
