Position Title: Healthcare Administration Coordinator

Salary: $44,133.48 per year

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent AND three (3) years of administrative support or professional clerical experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Experience working in the fields of healthcare or corrections is preferred.

 

Act 33/34 clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant. Must obtain CPR/BLS certification within six (6) months of appointment.

 

It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.


Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Clinic Manager, this position provides administrative and clerical support to various areas within the Healthcare Department of the Allegheny County Jail to assist in the efficient and effective provision of health-related services. 



Overview:


Duties:

  • Types, enters data, reviews, edits, and proofreads information, reports, and documents; provides research assistance, and collates, formulates, and disseminates information as directed.
  • Prepares, collates, processes, and maintains a variety of records.
  • Manages mail and correspondence both within the jail and to outside parties.
  • Completes requests for alternative housing and Medical Assistance (MA) forms for incarcerated individuals preparing for release.
  • Coordinates with family members to drop off approved medical equipment.
  • Completes vital signs on incarcerated individuals being seen in the specialty clinic as requested by the medical provider.
  • Collaborates with clinic providers to ensure the coordination of incarcerated individuals on special housing units being seen in the clinic.
  • Compiles, generates, and disseminates spreadsheets, reports, and documents.
  • Performs administrative and clerical tasks in the daily operations of the specialty clinic.
  • Provides relevant information to supervisors, staff, visitors, community agencies, etc., as directed.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of patients.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings and activities.
  • Maintains computerized tracking, filing, and other recordkeeping systems as requested or required.
  • Collaborates with the clinic officer to ensure policies are followed within the clinic.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of professional business office operations.

  • Microsoft Office products.
  • Electronic Healthcare Records.

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Utilize office equipment (copier, scanner, fax, computer, etc.)
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information and records.
  • Establish effective working relationships with supervisors, jail administrative and medical management, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a controlled environment. 

Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County
