Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma AND two (2) yrs of experience in healthcare administration, program coordination/development, policy writing, quality improvement/quality assurance or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business, or Social Work preferred.


Act 33/34 clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant. Must obtain CPR/BLS certification within six (6) months of appointment.

It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Quality Improvement Manager, the Quality Improvement Coordinator organizes, develops, and coordinates the Quality Improvement Program within the Health Services Department at the Allegheny County Jail. Incumbent provides operational and strategic leadership to support the delivery of healthcare services and focuses on reviewing and analyzing the fidelity and integrity of policies. This position works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure that the department's services meet and exceed the expectations of accrediting bodies. The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for program growth and development within the department including tracking data and enacting process improvement initiatives. 



Overview:


Duties:

  • Reviews, revises, and develops policies and procedures to increase the standard of care within the Health Services Department.
  • Liaises with partners and stakeholders to ensure an increase in services and holistic care provisions for the incarcerated population.
  • Develops, generates, analyzes, and evaluates relevant data and reports.
  • Conducts routine process reviews to establish efficient provision of services and works to increase the availability of services.
  • Ensures equitable provision of healthcare services and removes barriers to care for individuals with ADAA considerations and incarcerated individuals who do not have proficiency in the English language.
  • Monitors healthcare requests and grievances to ensure timeliness of encounters.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all medical records.
  • Attends and assists in the coordination of quarterly continuous quality improvement (CQI) meetings.
  • Assists in developing, overseeing, and monitoring process improvement plans.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Interact with incarcerated individuals with a sensitivity and understanding of a specific population's needs.
  • Lead, function independently, and make informed decisions using sound professional judgment.
  • Supervise the quality of care and treatment provided to inmates.
  • Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, goals, and objectives for providing quality care.
  • Communicate effectively with correctional staff, jail administrative and medical management, patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a stressful environment.
  • Ensure accountability 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Successfully manage and resolve conflict.
  • Solve complex problems efficiently.

Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County
