Position Title: Supply Clerk

Salary: $41,059.20 per year

Minimum Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of related experience in inventory control or materials management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Experience with large quantity inventory and experience directing the work of others is preferred.


A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.

It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.


Position Summary:

Working closely with various supervisors in the Medical Unit and the Sergeant of Procurement, the Supply Clerk performs clerical and manual duties associated with the receipt, storage, and issuance of various supplies, materials, and equipment within the Allegheny County Jail.



Overview:


Duties:

  • Coordinates every aspect of the supply chain, including planning, sourcing, delivery, and disposal.
  • Unpacks, sorts, and stores items and new supplies and materials systematically on shelves, in bins, or in designated storage areas.
  • Prepares and fills requisitions according to quantities ordered, delivers goods in accordance with established policies and procedures, and files requisition requests accordingly.
  • Receives items and verifies invoices, purchase orders, and packing slips with incoming merchandise to ensure accurate quantities; notifies appropriate staff when special orders have arrived.
  • Prepares items for shipping and completes shipping authorization for surplus equipment or damaged items to be returned.
  • Assures inventory records are updated when receiving/ issuing supplies and equipment; reorders items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Works closely with various supervisors in the Medical Unit and the Sergeant of Procurement.
  • Performs physical counts and/or audits of inventory in accordance with established procedures. Analyze data to forecast future supply needs.
  • Maintains clean and organized stockrooms and restocks as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required or requested.

  • Professional business office principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Microsoft Office products.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain records in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Learn and effectively utilize automated inventory management and other software and/or computerized systems as required.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a stressful environment.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment (i.e., computer, calculator, copier, fax, etc.).
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Travel to various locations within Allegheny County.
  • Navigate multiple websites simultaneously, comparing products, pricing, etc.

Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County
