Salary: $40,000- 45,500 per year

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma AND four (4) years of related experience in economic development, public administration, marketing and communications, or business/program administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is required upon hire.

Position Summary:

The Business Development Coordinator 2 engages in research, outreach, planning, marketing, and managing economic development strategies to retain and attract domestic and international businesses to Allegheny County. Under the direct supervision of the Business Development Manager, the incumbent assesses and analyzes the needs of Allegheny County businesses to identify opportunities for collaboration and growth. Working with the Business Development Team, this role impacts Allegheny County’s growing business community through a creative and collaborative approach to economic development.



Overview:

Allegheny County Economic Development (ACED) is a dynamic, multidisciplinary economic development agency serving the citizens of Allegheny County. Through investments in a variety of projects including affordable housing development, land development, infrastructure development, business attraction and expansion, land use, and transportation planning, ACED maximizes regional economic growth, neighborhood vitality and quality of life in its 130 municipalities. ACED is looking for dedicated, creative professionals who are passionate about equitable and sustainable development.


Duties:

  • Prioritizes, organizes, and evaluates the business visitation program which includes regular and periodic communications, using various methods of correspondence and on-site stakeholder interviews to assess business concerns and opportunities.
  • Refers applicants for loan and grant programs and supports clients and businesses through application, approval, and follow-up processes as needed.
  • Works with Allegheny County marketing and communications teams to promote and advertise ACED and partner programs.
  • Develops collaborative working relationships with partner agencies, elected officials, and community stakeholders to identify needs and develop or support programs focused on workforce development, entrepreneurship and certification, small business development, and additional priorities.
  • Supports the Business Development team in understanding barriers to client success and makes recommendations/referrals to technical assistance providers.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding funding, technical resources, permitting, licensing, market data, taxes, policies, and laws.
  • Promotes County and Authorities programs regularly by contacting potential users and convening, organizing, and participating in seminars, one-on-one meetings, and public speaking engagements.
  • Supports Business Development team in implementing projects and records management system to ensure fiscal integrity and to meet monitoring, compliance, and reporting requirements for all projects.
  • Prepares Request For Qualifications/Proposals/Development Proposals or public solicitation and manages consultant teams; ensures delivery of services and contract compliance.
  • Performs related duties/special assignments as assigned.

Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
