Position Title: Clerk Typist 2

Salary: $18.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of general office experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Must be able to pass a comprehensive personal background investigation.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) “non-escort” certification through JNET prior to appointment.

It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.


Position Summary:

The clerk typist works under the supervision of the Section Commander and provides secretarial and general clerical support to personnel assigned to Headquarters. This position is located at the South Park Barracks, Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm. 



Overview:


Duties:

  • Receives and directs telephone calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains Office appropriate phone listings.
  • Greets visitors and directs them to appropriate personnel.
  • Types correspondences and reports utilizing a personal computer.
  • Distributes mail to the appropriate departmental personnel.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of office and evidence packaging supplies.
  • Maintains fleet management to include monthly logging of mileage and maintenance.
  • Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned by management (i.e., file retention, expungements, billing, court subpoena distribution, maintaining an event and court schedule, etc.)  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • General office practices and procedures.
  • Data entry.

Skill in:

  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, OnBase, and NovaTime. 

Ability to:

  • Work overtime on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Operate various pieces of office equipment such as copy machine, fax, label maker, and telephone system.
  • Maintain confidentiality of classified information.
  • Communicate with personnel and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
