Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 


It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.


Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Account Clerk Supervisor, the Account Clerk is responsible for the maintenance of incarcerated individuals’ Trust Accounts. The Account Clerk works across the daylight and evening shifts Monday through Sunday. The work hours may vary and are typically shifts of 8-hour days. 



Overview:


Duties:

  • Accepts and verifies all funds from processing.
  • Makes daily bank deposits.
  • Charges accounts for postage and property damage.
  • Maintains monthly account statements and maintains account deposits, withdrawals, and money orders.
  • Provides disbursements to previously incarcerated individuals for any unused trust account balances.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Modern business principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Computerized record keeping and money distribution.
  • Financial transactions.
  • File maintenance.

Skill in:

  • Microsoft Office products.

Ability to:

  • Maintain record transactions in accordance with money management principles and practices.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Handle and record financial transactions with accuracy.
