Minimum Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of full-time administrative experience, or
- An Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Business Administration one (1) year of full-time administrative experience.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the Allegheny County Employee’s Retirement System Manager, this is a confidential, administrative position assisting in all the administration functions of the office.
Overview:
The Allegheny County Employees' Retirement System provides retirement, disability, and death benefits for County of Allegheny and Allegheny County Airport Authority employees and their beneficiaries and has nearly 12,000 active and retired members. Plan assets total more than $950 million.
Duties:
- Serves as primary administrative support to the Assistant Manager and the Manager of the Allegheny County Retirement Board.
- Greets members utilizing excellent customer service skills.
- Fields and responds to in-person inquiries, phone calls and emails courteously and promptly.
- Performs data entry and other administrative functions such as creating correspondence and maintaining the office filing system.
- Assists in the preparation of Pension Benefit Project Calculations for employees and answers related questions.
- Resolves payroll problems when they occur.
- Verifies accuracy of employee benefit time balances.
- Performs other tasks and duties as requested or required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Basic clerical functions including operating office equipment.
- Payroll practices, policies, and procedures in County government.
- JD Edwards and NOVAtime payroll system--or ability to learn them swiftly.
Skill in:
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Spreadsheet preparation with cell formatting in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to:
- Multi-task and be keenly detail oriented to ensure quality, compliance, accurate verifications and data entry.
- Apply on-the-job training and feedback quickly and consistently.
- Calculate and apply mathematical concepts.
- Learn new computer systems, applications and programs.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Type a minimum of 50 WPM.
- Lift or move up to 10 lbs.
- Physically walk, talk, sit, hear, and use hands, fingers, and arms to handle, feel, and reach.
Residency:
Allegheny County within 1 year.
