Position Title: Foreman, Building Maintenance

Minimum Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent AND two (2) years of experience in general supervision, or
  • An equivalent amount of experience and education may be substituted. 

 Candidates with facilities and/or building maintenance supervisory experience are preferred.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Building Custodial Managers, this position is a leadership role within the Department of Facilities Management and is responsible for the daily supervision of all assigned utility workers and/or custodial workers. Incumbent is responsible for the coordination of small interdepartmental moves or relocations in accordance with approved work orders throughout the County. The Building Maintenance Foreman always facilitates the continuity of custodial duties, especially during personnel absences and/or emergency conditions.

Duties:

  • Prepares, assigns, and coordinates daily work schedules for assigned personnel to achieve maximum utilization of available work persons contingent upon workload.
  • Monitors workforce task allocations and performance daily to ensure proper conduct and efficiency among crews.
  • Documents any incidents of misbehavior and informs management.
  • Reviews and surveils County property making sure that appearance is maintained in an acceptable condition.
  • Supervises all emergencies within their assigned buildings.
  • Communicates with the Building Custodial Managers regarding work assignments, personnel, and any issues that arise.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required or necessary.

Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
