Position Title: Coordinator of Voting Machines

Salary: $24.8645 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.
  • Must be able to drive cargo vans as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in the elections process or work involving voting machines.

A current, valid PA Driver's License is required. Travel to various sites within Allegheny County will be required.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for programming voting machines for county-wide use on Election Day and performing various related functions. The incumbent is required to travel to various sites within Allegheny County.



Overview:

The Allegheny County Elections Division manages county voting policies and schedules all activities necessary before, during and after Election Day. This division conducts free and open elections as governed by law and strives to show a civil community transparency to all registered voters in Allegheny County.


Duties:

  • Programs voting machines.
  • Performs lead duties which include driving to multiple polling places.
  • Delivers all voting machines and ensures all equipment is functioning prior to election days.
  • Distributes court orders to polling places as directed by the voter registration staff.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues of voting machines and instructs staff on proper operation as needed.
  • Conducts equipment and software logic and accuracy testing prior to each election.
  • Enters and maintains data in the state SURE computer system.
  • Sorts and processes daily mail.
  • Operates warehouse equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Elections procedures.
  • Operating voting machines and warehouse equipment.

Skill in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.

Ability to:

  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overtime during election cycles.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively both orally and in writing.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, technical, and other issues effectively.
  • Program voting machines and ensure all equipment functions properly.
  • Operate warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain productive working relationships, under minimal supervision, with staff, departments, and external organizations.
  • Plan strategically in advance and effectively manage time, tasks, deadlines, and multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Travel to various sites within Allegheny County and have access to a vehicle.

 Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to, including driving in, weather conditions (hot, cold, humid, and windy).
  • Non-weather related cold/hot temperature exposure.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to work evenings, weekends, and overtime.



Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
