Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Social Science, Music Therapy, Education, or a related field AND two (2) years of experience as a recreation therapist in a health care setting, or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Kane Community Living Center Administrator, the incumbent plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates the activities of the Center’s Therapeutic Recreation Program to meet the physical, intellectual, psychological, and social needs of residents. Work is performed in accordance with Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities.
Overview:
Duties:
- Supervises the Recreation Therapy staff, volunteers, contract employees, and student interns.
- Interviews, hires, disciplines, and evaluates staff.
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs.
- Performs quality improvement activities such as program review, chart audits, care plan, and MDS audits.
- Develops a monthly activity calendar for scheduled events.
- Participates in resident care conferences.
- Prepares vehicle, food service, housekeeping, and foundation requisitions for recreational activities.
- Monitors and prepares departmental budget and prepares forms for purchase of equipment and supplies.
- Arranges activities with outside groups and organizations to provide quality programs for residents.
- Creates new resources for resident programs such as Adult Basic Education Program.
- Oversees chart, Kardex, and MDS therapeutic recreation notes in compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Federal regulations.
- Works with resident council on resident concerns pertaining to the recreation department.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested by the Community Living Center Administrator.

- Foster a resident-centered culture that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life.
- Work with a large staff and a diverse client base.
- Be organized and prioritize competing tasks.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and the community.
Residency:
Allegheny County within 1 year.
