Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Finance, a relevant clinical specialty, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of progressive management experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
- A valid, current, unrestricted LTC/SNF Administrator’s license in the state of PA.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Kane Community Living Centers Executive Director and accountable to all stakeholders, the incumbent in this position leads, guides and directs the operations of the LTC/SNF facility in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, standards and established facility policies and procedures to provide appropriate care and services to residents and patients. This position oversees and directs all aspects of the facility and staff, namely through subordinate administrators or managers in each respective department. There is currently one vacancy at the Kane Glen Hazel facility and one vacancy at the Kane Scott Township facility.
Overview:
Duties:
Operations and Fiscal Performance Metrics and Management
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the overall administrative operations of the facility, programs, and activities, in accordance with current state and federal laws and regulations.
- In conjunction with Business Office management, develops, implements, and monitors processes and systems that maintain the fiscal health of the facility (e.g., occupancy management strategy, improved census, or fiscal health, etc.).
- Leads budget development with department heads biannually. Co-leads weekly or bi-monthly budget compliance meetings to ensure financial goals are met. Reviews and interprets monthly financial statements and reports data relevant stakeholders.
- Identifies and evaluates, in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and select department heads, the facility’s overall key performance indicators (e.g., quality assurance, facility outcomes, regulatory compliance, resident/client satisfaction, etc.). Recommends or develops and implements corrective actions where necessary.
Risk, Compliance, Safety Management
- Establishes a culture of compliance by modeling adherence to all facility policies and procedures and complies with standards of business conduct, as well as state/federal regulations and guidelines.
- Ensures resident incidents and concerns that rise to a reportable event (e.g., alleged abuse, neglect, mistreatment, misappropriation, etc.) are reported to the correct entity within the stated regulatory requirement.
- Coordinates and cooperates with the facility’s liability insurance carrier and legal representative in litigation involving the facility.
Clinical/Quality of Care Oversight
- Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and services across an interdisciplinary team approach as evidenced by adequate and competent facility staff, general cleanliness, physical plant condition, and optimal resident functioning-physically and psychosocially.
- Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to appropriate regulatory entities. Protects residents from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
- Identifies and collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to identify opportunities for enhanced services to the residents and/or resolve issues.
HR Management
- Effectively empowers and delegates administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to staff personnel.
- Evaluates work performance of department heads and maintains accountability across all departments in concert with Human Resources for expected performance outcomes in each respective department.
- Engages and recruits talented, qualified individuals in conjunction with Human Resources to fill department head positions as a key factor in building and maintaining a strong and capable team.
Performs other duties, within or outside of the role areas noted above, as required by need or direction from administration or fellow management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Long-Term Care (LTC) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and standards.
- All other necessary governing and regulatory agency requirements: e.g., general nursing practices and procedures, OBRA regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, Appendix PP State Operations Manual, reimbursement processes, Life Safety Code regulations, applicable labor relations and other relevant laws and regulations.
Skill in:
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Electronic Health Records (Matrix is preferrable).
Ability to:
- Oversee all facility operations through subordinate managers and staff. Direct workforce using effective empowerment, motivation, and coaching techniques.
- Manage and minimize facility risk through a team approach to achieve desired outcomes in customer service, key performance indicators, employee retention, and other areas as identified.
- Interact and engage professionally and tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, employees, and family members through scheduled, deliberate positive interactions with them using face-to-face, phone, or other means of communication.
- Make independent decisions, sometimes with limited information or without adequate analysis time (e.g., emergency situations).
- Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication. Promotes positivity and active daily problem-solving.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
- Treat all residents with dignity and respect. Promote and protect all residents’ rights.
