Position Title: Golf Course Facility Manager

Salary: $45,000 to $55,000 commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and five (5) years of experience working at a golf course, to include one year of managing or supervising staff.

 

NOTE: Work will include variable hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays which may require work on site during programs and special events to ensure success and safety.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Deputy Directors of Parks, this position will be responsible for the following tasks at the South Park Golf Course: scheduling and overseeing staff, booking special events and programs, overseeing all revenue associated with the golf course, handling complaints, and communicating with maintenance issues that arise. This position will assist the Parks Department with other necessary tasks as designated.



Overview:

The Parks system encompasses a variety of activities and amenities including three wave pools, one swimming pool, ski slopes, snow tubing, two ice rinks, and over 400 rental facilities. Duties:

People Management

  • Oversees the Golf Course Assistant Manager and all of the subordinate employee resources at the golf course.
  • Hires and trains staff as necessary. Engages appropriate Parks upper management on necessary employee escalation matters.
  • Schedules and supervises staff effectively and appropriately.
  • Instructs (either self or through subordinate staff) seasonal employees in the duties and responsibilities of their positions.
  • Ensures a safe recreation environment for patrons of the facility.

Miscellaneous Management

  • Promotes favorable public relations and instructs employees in the application of tact and courtesy in dealing with the public.
  • Accounts for all revenue received and ensures daily deposits are made and prepares financial and attendance reports for the facility.
  • Places service order requests as needed for maintenance issues.
  • Tracks inventory of pro shop items and adds input of new items to carry, also including ordering and maintaining a supply of score cards, cart agreements, and cleaning supplies.
  • Corresponds with the Recreation Program Coordinator to come up with new ideas for programs/events at the facility and assists in the coordination of special events and programs at the facility. Also collaborates with the Marketing team to advertise the facility.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • The game of golf and its operations.
  • Management and supervision principles and practices.

Skill in:

  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Point-of-sale (POS) and Tee Time Software.

Ability to:

  • Provide comprehensive customer service in a calm and professional manner.
  • Operate the point-of-sale and digital time clock systems.
  • Work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to include on-site work during programs and special events to ensure success and safety.
  • Thrive in a very busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Solve problems related to operations, facilities, and programming.
  • Maintain excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
