Position Title: Videographer/Photographer

Salary: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in TV/Film, Communications or related field, AND two (2) years of professional experience in the development of video productions, news/information/public affairs content creation in a corporate or organizational environment, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited certificate program in Photography or a related field.

 

A current, valid PA Driver’s License is required. Act 33/34 Clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant.

Position Summary:

The Videographer/Photographer reports to the Lead Videographer/Photographer and creates a variety of media for Allegheny County and its’ departments.

 

The Office of Marketing and Special Events is specifically seeking candidates with knowledge of the human services field and/or interest in providing clear, accessible and compelling information to people in crisis, people from diverse backgrounds throughout Allegheny County, and historically marginalized communities.



Overview:

The Office of Marketing & Special Events raises public awareness of County services, projects, events, activities and initiatives through proactive marketing, advertising, and social media efforts, as well as produces a wide array of high-quality cultural, artistic and special events to enhance the quality of life in Allegheny County.  


Duties:

  • Produces high-quality photo and video content for a wide variety of use, including but not limited to social media, internal trainings, advertisements, website content, and presentations.
  • Develops, produces, directs, shoots, and edit short and long-format video and digital media.
  • Works closely with marketing team, departments, and Public Information Officers across the county to identify and develop concepts, timelines, and creative ways to incorporate media into the county’s communication and marketing efforts.
  • Livestreams meetings, PSAs, and events.
  • Assembles and disassembles videography, photography, lighting and audio equipment for shoots and projects.
  • Operates cameras, lights and audio equipment, and gathers B-roll (generic footage).
  • Conducts background research and writes scripts.
  • Supports the implementation of equity, inclusion, and diversity by incorporating different perspectives and lenses to videos and photos.
  • Archives the continuous volume of County videos, photos and historical film negatives.
  • Performs other related work as requested or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Video and photo editing software, including Adobe Photoshop and Premier.
  • Video program construction, methods and techniques for concept development, script writing and creation, production, directing, planning, shooting, lighting and editing.
  • Various social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube and how video performs best on each platform.
  • Methods and techniques for concept development, script writing and product execution for a variety of purposes and audiences.
  • ADA-compliant communication principles.
  • Communicating to multilingual and multicultural communities.
  • Software for video and image editing, digital file formats, analog and digital photography, compression tracks and techniques.
  • Operating a drone and knowledge of FAA drone regulations is preferred.



Skill in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to:

  • Work a flexible schedule, including attendance at evening and/or weekend events, and be on-call as required. 
  • Conduct research on a wide variety of media and video topics, including equipment, production methods and conventions.
  • Organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Apply racial equity and accessibility frameworks to creative work.
