Position Title: Software Intern - IT

Salary: $14.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Vue, Node.js, .NET, or SQL experience is preferred.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Team Transformation, the Software Information Technology Intern is responsible for providing onsite assistance to users of the Allegheny County Treasurer’s Office with resolutions to their software problems, assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of Treasurer’s Office software, assisting the Treasurer’s IT team with documentation, and recording the process through the usage of IT tickets.

Duties:

  • Provide timely resolutions to Treasurer user issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems in a step-by-step manner.
  • Document all pertinent IT information on these issues.
  • Assist in development and testing of in-house software.
  • Review and update IT documentation.
  • Identify potential improvements and recommend changes to IT documentation.
  • Provide Tier 1 IT support.
  • Perform other project duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Windows Operating Systems
  • Basic software coding principles
  • DevOps tools and practices
  • Basic coding/scripting 

Skill in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite 

Ability to:

  • Troubleshoot IT issues
  • Provide detailed descriptions of IT issues
  • Engage in a team-based setting to work on IT projects under supervision
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of networking, software, and operating systems.
  • Display strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and listening skills.

Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
