Position Title: Administrative Assistant

Salary: $47,257.60 per year

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma AND a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in administrative services.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.


A valid PA Driver’s License is required prior to appointment.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, the Administrative Assistant handles a wide range of administrative and executive support-related tasks.



Overview:


Duties:

  • Organizes the Laboratory Directors’ communications and schedule.
  • Maintains an organized filing system of paper and electronic documents relating to the Office of the Medical Examiner.
  • Oversees the chain of custody in the maintenance and transfer of evidence and documentation, including but not limited to photographs, reports of laboratory findings, and support documentation.
  • Performs secretarial duties for administrative staff, as required.
  • Coordinates internship programs.
  • Answers the telephone and records messages.
  • Completes tasks associated with payroll and human resources functions relating to the Office of the Medical Examiner.
  • Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Payroll and human resources processes.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Laboratory operations.
  • Basic accounting principles and business.

Skill in:

  • Timekeeping software.
  • OnBase software.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Accurately perform detailed work.
  • Manage multiple assignments and/or projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multi-task efficiently.
  • Manage time effectively. 

Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
