Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma AND a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in administrative services.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
A valid PA Driver’s License is required prior to appointment.

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, the Administrative Assistant handles a wide range of administrative and executive support-related tasks.
Overview:
Duties:
- Organizes the Laboratory Directors’ communications and schedule.
- Maintains an organized filing system of paper and electronic documents relating to the Office of the Medical Examiner.
- Oversees the chain of custody in the maintenance and transfer of evidence and documentation, including but not limited to photographs, reports of laboratory findings, and support documentation.
- Performs secretarial duties for administrative staff, as required.
- Coordinates internship programs.
- Answers the telephone and records messages.
- Completes tasks associated with payroll and human resources functions relating to the Office of the Medical Examiner.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Payroll and human resources processes.
- Medical terminology.
- Laboratory operations.
- Basic accounting principles and business.
Skill in:
- Timekeeping software.
- OnBase software.
- Microsoft Office Suite.

- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Residency:
Allegheny County within 1 year.
