Position Title: Administrative Payroll Assistant

Salary: $46,379.42 per year

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Business or a related field AND two (2) years of related work experience. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Experience with JD Edwards and Kronos/Telestaff/NOVAtime/OnBase is preferred.
  • This position is located at Allegheny County Airport.

Position Summary:

The Administrative Payroll Assistant reports to the District One Division Commander at the Allegheny County Airport and to the Payroll Manager at Allegheny County Police Headquarters. This position assists with payroll processing of daily hours worked for all department employees and maintains the confidentiality of all data processed. This position will be located at the Allegheny County Airport. 



Overview:


Duties:

  • Assists payroll staff with the processing of daily hours worked for all department employees and maintains the confidentiality of all data processed.
  • Assists payroll by handling NOVAtime, Telestaff, or any other payroll/benefit time-keeping procedures set forth.
  • Enters and authorizes travel/training requests in OnBase
  • Analyzes payroll, financial, and fiscal reports for the Fiscal Division by using JDE and Excel.
  • Assists with processing purchase orders and miscellaneous vouchers.
  • Assists with contract administration.
  • Answers incoming phone calls.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Maintains various filing and database systems.
  • Performs administrative duties as requested or required by the District One Division Commander. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Accounting, billing, and payroll processes and procedures.
  • General office practices.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Operate general office equipment (i.e., telephone, computer, copier, fax machine, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with police officials, department staff, County officials, and vendors.
  • Accurately perform detailed work.
  • Type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
  • Organize and maintain records and files.

Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
