Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma or its equivalent.

It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.


Position Summary:

This position is responsible for delivering supplies and equipment in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and inventory of medical supplies, medical equipment, and related materials. Work is performed in accordance with Federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing long-term care facilities, and under the direction of the Materials Manager or a Food Service Manager/Supervisor.



Overview:


Duties:

  • Receives incoming merchandise from vendors, checks for damaged items, and checks purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Completes paperwork and records partial or complete order; obtains signatures to document receipt of goods/inventory.
  • Delivers items to appropriate storage areas or user departments, replenishes any items as necessary, and maintains supply and storage areas in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Packages and loads merchandise to be returned to vendors.
  • Rotates and stores stock items, organizing for efficient handling and minimal deterioration.  
  • Stocks resident clothing/foot ware in warehouse by size and distributes as needed.
  • Informs the Food Service Director, the Production Manager, or the Materials Manager if shortage occurs in requested food supplies or other facility supplies and materials. 
  • Cleans all shelving and equipment and sweeps and mops floors in storerooms or cooler and freezer areas; moves any equipment necessary to accomplish the cleaning. 
  • Assists in performing physical inventories; assists in developing methods for determining quantity of supplies and equipment as required. 
  • Fills requisitions for supplies; fills telephone orders and submits paperwork.
  • Delivers emergency supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Performs related tasks and other duties assigned by the Materials Manager or a Food Service Manager/Supervisor.

  • Storage requirements for a variety of supplies and materials, including dietary supplies
  • Safe practices for lifting, pushing, pulling, moving, and other physical duties

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within a long-term care facility
  • Work well with co-workers, supervisors, and residents.
  • Lift and stack cases of canned goods, cleaning supplies, and bags of foodstuffs
  • Perform other physical duties such as pushing, pulling, moving, and lifting equipment and supplies

 


Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
