Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent AND one (1) year of basic clerical work experience, including customer service, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.

Position Summary:

The Office of Property Assessments (OPA) produces a fair, accurate and timely assessment roll, doing so in a uniform manner consistent with the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) while emphasizing outstanding customer service and an efficient use of resources. The Office of Property Assessments also maintains ownership and assessment records for parcels within Allegheny County with property owners, municipalities and school districts concerning assessment matters.

 This position reports to the Section Manager and is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties including customer service.



Overview:


Duties:

  • Customer service via telephone and in-person
  • Filing forms pertinent to the OPA office
  • Entering data received from the manager
  • Performing research
  • Scanning/indexing forms from assessment hearings
  • Other clerical/technical duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Basic clerical functions including operating office equipment

Skill in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to:

  • Effective in verbal and written communications
  • File and enter basic data efficiently
  • Adapt and learn new tasks
  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously as needed
  • Work well with others in a fast-paced office environment
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service

Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
