Born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania - Alex Rose moved to Allegheny County in 2016 and has been proud to call it home ever since. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Alex holds degrees in political science and history, as well as a minor in public service. After graduating from Pitt, Alex moved to the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, where he currently resides.

A public advocate from a young age, Alex was first motivated to fight for change when Governor Tom Corbett's public education cuts put his mother's job as an educator in peril. After graduating from college, Alex fully embraced the fight for good government, working on dozens of initiatives and campaigns designed to make government work for the people. Through those efforts, Alex would often put in 100 plus hour weeks, knocking on tens of thousands of doors, and making hundreds of thousands of phone calls. Furthermore, Alex gained invaluable leadership experience managing teams of staff members as large as 70 people, and negotiating complex agreements across many stakeholders.

Outside of work, Alex is also an active volunteer in the community. A supervisor with the disaster response team of the Red Cross - Alex will be on shift one to three nights a week to provide immediate relief to our neighbors if they have the misfortune of experiencing a disaster, such as a house fire. Alex also regularly volunteers with Play it Forward during the Christmas season.

Alex brings his professional and personal experiences and love for his community to his work on County Council. Alex's history of dedicated and tireless advocacy, plus experience with leading large groups and negotiating complex agreements, serves the residents well. Alex looks forward to working with all residents of Allegheny County as we build a better future for us all.
