Councilman Sam DeMarco is a North Fayette Township resident who currently sits on the Budget & Finance, Economic Development & Housing, Public Works and Public Safety committees at Allegheny County Council.

As an executive in the document management industry for more than 28 years, Councilman Demarco has helped universities and Fortune 500 companies including IKON Office Solutions, Xerox and Ricoh improve business processes and reduce costs through the implementation of technology and best practices. His expertise has been a key factor in helping county government better serve residents of Allegheny county by promoting more efficient, more responsive, and more cost-effective management. He holds a number of IT certifications including that of a Certified Document Imaging Architect.

Immediately following his 2015 election, Councilman DeMarco enrolled in Local Government Academy’s “Newly Elected Officials” course which was a 13-week program, which he credits for giving him the tools and insight to be an effective public servant from day one. He was recently selected to participate in and he graduated from the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania’s “CCAP Center for Excellence in County Leadership” Program in June of 2017. He has also been selected to participate in Leadership Pittsburgh’s Class of 2017-2018, a 10-month program geared towards established senior level leaders. From September through June, the once-a-month Leadership Pittsburgh sessions provides over 60 participants with the exposure, experiences and connections that prepare them to tackle the challenges of senior leadership in the community.

The Councilman is very involved in the community and currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the Board of Trustees for Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum Trust. He is an Honorary Board Member of the Tuskegee Airman Memorial of Western Pennsylvania Region, and a member of Amen Corner.

In addition, Councilman DeMarco currently serves as a member of Pennsylvania’s Republican State Committee for the 37th State Senatorial District, where he sits on the Resolutions Committee. He is the former Chairman of the North Fayette Republican Committee and former President of Veterans and Patriots United, a conservative grassroots organization. He is a current member of Firearm Owners Against Crime and the Marine Corps League South Hills Detachment #726.

Councilman Demarco is a United States Marine Corps veteran having served as an avionics technician in support of VMFP-3, a Marine Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron and VMFA-142, a Marine Corps Fighter Attack Squadron. Upon his discharge he returned to Pittsburgh where he attended the University of Pittsburgh, studying Political and Computer Science.

He is a recognized local conservative, a frequent guest on both Rose Tennent’s radio show “Rose Unplugged”, and Ellis Cannon’s “Night Talk” which is broadcast on PCNC. He has also appeared on the PG/KDKA Sunday Morning show as well as many others. In addition, he has served as a panelist at the PA Leadership Conference, the Heritage Foundation’s President Club Conference in Washington, D.C., Get Involved Inc.’s Power Hour.

Before his career in the document management industry, Councilman DeMarco worked for Frank Fuhrer Wholesale Company as a sales representative responsible for increasing the market share of “Coors Brewing” products in Allegheny County. Prior, he worked as a journeyman glazier having served his apprenticeship with Glaziers Local Union #751 during Pittsburgh’s Renaissance II building period. The Councilman is proud of his time as a member of the building trades before transitioning to his career in sales. He continues to have great respect for those who “Build America.”
